Deutsche Börse Website on Saturday, March 22. Below the DAX® blue-chip index, the new index model distinguishes between classic sectors and technology sectors; all of these indices are open for the inclusion of foreign equities. The TECDAX® equity index will make its debut as the new blue-chip index for the 30 largest technology stocks below the DAX®. It will replace the NEMAX® 50 share index as the benchmark for technology stocks. The NEMAX® 50 will be calculated until the end of 2004 to assure continuity in products based on this index. In the classic sectors, the MDAX® equity index will be reduced from 70 to 50 equities. Reducing the number of companies in the index and including foreign firms will increase the liquidity of the index and make it more attractive for investors. The SDAX® equity index with the next 50 equities below the MDAX® will provide smaller and medium-size companies from the classic sectors with an attractive showcase for investors. As of March 24, foreign issuers will also be included in this index.
