Index description
The S&P SMIT 40 Net Total Return EUR Index has been calculated since 28th September 2012 and replicates the performance of the stock markets of the emerging markets South Korea, Mexico, Indonesia and Turkey (“SMIT”), which are equally weighted in the index. The index contains shares in ten companies from each of these four countries. The weighting of the companies within each country is based on their free-float market capitalisation (over one billion US dollars) and average daily traded volume (over five million US dollars in the last three months).
The composition of the index is reviewed annually in September and adjusted if necessary. The index is also reweighted (rebalanced) at the same time: each country’s weighting is set to 25 percent and the share accounted for by each company is capped at 10 percent.
The S&P SMIT 40 Net Total Return EUR Index is a performance index and is calculated in euros.
