Vanguard Asset Management has announced the launch of four new Irish-domiciled ETFs, complementing the five ETFs that it brought to the European market in 2012. The broadening of Vanguard’s ETF line-up underscores the firm’s commitment of providing low-cost, physically backed ETFs to investors. Following today’s launch, the Vanguard ETF range now provides UK and European investors with access to key developed equity markets.
The four Vanguard ETFs newly listed on the London Stock Exchange are:
Fund LSE Trading Symbol – GBP TER
Vanguard FTSE Developed Europe UCITS ETF VEUR 0.15%
Vanguard FTSE Developed Asia Pacific ex Japan UCITS ETF VAPX 0.22%
Vanguard FTSE Japan UCITS ETF VJPN 0.19%
Vanguard FTSE All-World High Dividend Yield UCITS ETF VHYL 0.29%
Vanguard Group, Inc. (“VGI”) has used FTSE indices globally since 2003 and employs FTSE benchmarks for 21 index portfolios around the world, representing $8.7bn in assets as at 30 April 2013. FTSE indices meet Vanguard’s ‘best practice’ standards for market benchmarks and offer comprehensive coverage of their respective markets.
Axel Lomholt, head of product, international, commented: “ETFs are growing in popularity in Europe and our experience in other markets suggests that this trend will continue. In the US, VGI has been very successful in this area, gathering nearly $290 billion of assets since its first ETF launch in 2001. We think that the same low-cost, straightforward approach will prove equally popular in Europe as investors seek
the most cost-efficient products to help them reach their goals.”
The new ETFs began trading on the London Stock Exchange today, Wednesday 22nd May 2013. They will be added to the existing range, which currently comprises:
Fund LSE Trading Symbol – GBP TER
Vanguard FTSE 100 ETF VUKE 0.10%
Vanguard S&P 500 ETF VUSA 0.09%
Vanguard FTSE Emerging Markets ETF VFEM 0.45%
Vanguard FTSE All-World ETF VWRL 0.25%
Vanguard UK Government Bond ETF VGOV 0.12%
As advisers seek ways to keep client costs low and increase investment control as a result of RDR, Vanguard launched the vanguardlearning.co.uk education site last year in order to educate advisers on ETF products. The site has proved extremely popular, garnering more than 570 adviser registrations and 4,000 downloads since launch. As Vanguard continues to build out its fund range, it is also developing further training materials, helping to ensure that advisers are best-placed to recommend the most suitable products to their clients.
