The total number of transactions, however, declined a modest 1.4 % to 2,662,290. The structured products and warrants segment developed very favorably: compared to July 2009, turnover rose by 15 % to CHF 3.29 billion. Here, the number of trades actually increased to 142,851, a 33 % gain versus the previous month.
Once again, all equity indices moved higher. The blue chip SMI® index closed out the month at 6,217.1 (+4.5 % above the end-July reading), the SLI Swiss Leader Index® PR at 956.8 (+7.3 %) and the broadly based SPI® at 5,346.2 (+4.6 %).
